Dala Horse Cards and FREE STUFF!
Inspired by my friend Michelle's love of Swedish Dala horses, I created some Dala horse cards with matching envelopes.
I first developed the pattern (which you can download for free under FREE PATTERNS) by tracing my own Dala horse and then using a photocopier to make larger and smaller horses. The free download has four different sized horses for you to use. :)
Next, I cut out some horses and decorated them with bits of scrapbook paper and paper flowers. I used a pen to draw the bridle and hooves on each horse.
I cut and folded half a sheet of cardstock to make the card, and layered a smaller sheet of complementing scrapbook paper onto the front of the card. I mounted my finished horse onto the front of the card with foam tabs to give it some dimensionality.
I decorated some pre-made invitation envelopes with a tiny Dala horse made out of scrap and glued to one corner. My card and envelope set was complete!
After that I went a little nuts and cut out more horses out of different color cardstocks. I decorated them even more lavishly with lace, ribbon, paper scraps and ephemera. I've scanned them for you and you can download and print them under FREE PATTERNS for your own crafts!
When you print out the downloads, use your "best photo" printer setting and set the scaling to "none" so you actually get a full size printing. I hope you enjoy these free downloads and make lots of horsy crafts!
And please, don't sell or distribute these "collageables" and stencil. They are for your personal use only. If you link to them, please link to this blog post and NOT directly to the patterns. Thank you, and enjoy!
