A Shrug for Blythe - Easy, Free Pattern!

Fiona wearing the shrug I knit for her.
Shrugs are immediate gratification if you want a quick sweater for Blythe. Here is my own recipe, which I hope you will try and enjoy!

What You'll Need
Fingering or Sock Weight Yarn (I used "Palette" off-white by KnitPicks--they have a zillion colors, and it's the perfect scale for a Blythe sweater!)
Size US 2 needles
Blunt needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
20 stitches in garter stitch (knit stitch) = 2.75 inches
You'll be knitting a small rectangle that should measure approximately (before sewing up)  6 inches long by 1.75 inches wide.

Let's begin!
  1. Cast on 15 stitches.
  2. Knit every row until piece measures 6 inches.
  3. Bind off, cut yarn, and weave in ends.
  4. Refer to sewing diagram below. Fold the piece in half so you get a narrow tube. As measured from each end, sew up for two inches to make the sleeves.

That's it! Put in on your Blythe, and she'll be warm and cozy. These knit up so fast that you can make several in different colors in one afternoon. And they are great over those sleeveless dresses!
