A Tam for Blythe - Free Pattern and Bonus Purse!


My first hat design for Blythe--a crocheted tam for Fiona, my Blythe! This tam is crocheted amigurumi-style (in a spiral) so it has no joins and goes super-quick!

What you need
Sport weight or DK yarn ( I used Knit Picks Telemark, which is Sport)
Size U.S. E (3.5 mm) crochet hook
Stitch marker
Several small purchased pom-poms (or make your own)
Small button for purse
Yarn needle (for sewing in ends)

Abbreviations
Sc - single crochet
St - stitch
Sl st - slip stitch
Inc - increase
Dec - decrease

Let's begin!

Tam
1. Chain two, 6 sc in second chain from hook (or use magic ring method). Place marker.
2. Inc in each sc around (12 sts)
3. (Sc, inc) six times (18 sts)
4. (2 sc, inc) six times (24 sts)
5. (3 sc, inc) six times (30 sts)
6. (4 sc, inc) six times (36 sts)
7. (5 sc, inc) six times (42 sts)
8. (6 sc, inc) six times (48 sts)
9. (7 sc, inc) six times (54 sts)
10. (8 sc, inc) six times (60 sts)
11. (9 sc, inc) six times (66 sts)
12. (10 sc, inc) six times (72 sts)
13. (11 sc, inc) six times (78 sts)
14. (12 sc, inc) six times (84 sts)
15. (13 sc, inc) six times (90 sts)
16. Sc around (90 sts)
17. Sc THROUGH BACK LOOPS around (90 sts)
18. (13 sc, dec) six times (84 sts)
19. (12 sc, dec) six times (78 sts)
20. (11 sc, dec) six times (72 sts)
21, (10 sc, dec) six times (66 sts)
22. (9 sc, dec) six times (60 sts)
23. Sc around (60 sts), sl st in next st, cut yarn, fasten, and weave in ends.


Purse
1. Chain 2, 5 sc in second chain from hook (or use magic ring method). Place marker.
2. Inc in each sc around (10 sts)
3. (Sc, inc) five times (15 sts)
4. (2 sc, inc) five times (20 sts)
5. (3 sc, inc) five times (25 sts)
6. Sc around
7. Sc around
8. Sc around
9. Sc around
10. Sc around
11. (3sc, dec) five times (20 sts)
12. (2 sc, dec) five times (15 sts)
13. Crochet a chain to make a strap for the purse. This can be as long as you want. I made mine long enough to be a cross-body purse.
14. Fasten end of chain half-way around purse. Sew on button.

You are done! Dress Blythe up and show her 'round!
