Museum Treasures

Thorne Miniature Rooms
One of the Thorne Miniature Rooms. In this photo, you can't tell that this room is acutally dollhouse-sized!
When my friend Michelle was visiting, we spent a wonderful Friday exploring some of the treasures at the Art Institute of Chicago. Going to the art museum is balm to my soul--all the colors, creativity and beauty just made my heart feel happy. Here are just a few of the things we saw.

Detail of one of the famous Chagall windows. What blue!

Looks like Sammy!
This ancient Roman mosaic looks just like my dog, Sam.

This photo of a snow painting by Monet doesn't do it justice.
Monet was able to capture all the nuances of the color white--
blues, purples and even pinks. Luscious.
A Wedgewood paintbox!
This Wedgewood paintbox is luxurious!

A beautiful door into the past.

Example of early European decorative art.
Feel free to view my Flickr set of this excursion for more glimpses into the Art Institute of Chicago.
